This is bounded on the north east by the Emory Village Morningside, Poncey-Highland to the south and west of Piedmont Park and Midtown.

As opposed to neighborhoods like Inman and Grant Parks, this neighborhood never really faltered during the recession in 1960 in Atlanta's intown. If at the end of the 1960s, it is proposed to connect the road, which is now free through the neighborhood Parkway to I-85, and Stone Mountain, and Va-HI residents, together with the Inman Park and Morningside were sentenced tool for the project. The residents were successful and became a serious political force in city politics. In fact, the current system of NPU is the consequence of defeat from the I-485. The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum is a great hill, which was supposed to be a major interchange in connection with the new bypass and a new highway, which would have led to Stone Mountain. Both cleared the remnants rights-of-Way to Freedom Park possible.

Today, the environment is a prosperous and there are many shops and restaurants to host its major festival, Summerfest, June the first Saturday.

Culturally, Virginia-Highland has recently become a small musical epicenter, the home is "Grape Tree" background, which is produced in a number of small, mostly inconsequential garage-rock bands as well as a handful of non-so-inconsequential artists, in particular, is an internationally themed Supreeme rap group, and a good mood, which locally themed Mariachi group.
