About Buckhead

Buckhead (Buckhead Village and sometimes marked, some signs of Buckhead Community) is an association which is composed of several neighborhoods, which represents about one-fifth of the northern Atlanta, Georgia.

Buckhead acquired the unusual name of long-gone local tavern that prominently displayed a large stuffed Buck's head. Was added to Atlanta in 1952 after an earlier attempt by Mayor William B. Hartsfield was the 1946 vote by residents.

The main east-west street is the speed of West Ferry Road, the former name for the ferry across the Chattahoochee River. Hardy Pace one of Atlanta's founders, operated the ferry, and a large part of what is now Buckhead, and as far west as Vining. The main north-south street is Peachtree Road, which extends south to Peachtree Street is the heart of the city. To change the name, it is important that it defines the limit of Buckhead and Midtown. North of the Buckhead area of Atlanta city limits, is the Sandy Springs.

Atlanta Buckhead is one of the most important business districts, which also includes Atlanta's wealthiest neighborhoods, that the Georgian President's Mansion, a part-time residence of Elton John and the Atlanta History Center, a museum. Buckhead home of golfing tire legned Robert (Bobby) Jones until his death in 1971. While some moderately priced homes in the area, a majority of the homes and Condos start around the $ 500,000 mark and extend beyond $ 10000000. Buckhead is also a Mecca of entertainment, and shopping malls, including Lenox Square Mall, Phipps Plaza, two of the most sought after shopping destinations in the Southeast. Lenox is a significant amount of their own, and many prestigious retailers, including the JW Marriott Hotel, while its cross-street rival, Phipps Plaza, is nationally known as one of the most upscale shopping centers in the United States. There are several other luxury hotels in the area, as well as the slightly modest accommodation. Many restaurants, bars and nightclubs are set out in the neighborhood. Local residents, with some justification, often call Buckhead the "Beverly Hills of the South. Robb Report magazine has ranked in Buckhead one of the U.S. 10" Top affluent communities "for" some of the most beautiful apartment, the best of trade and finest restaurants in the Southeast United States and the old Bel-Air Upper East Side Manhattan.

Buckhead at the end of the 1990s saw a fair share of problems due to the increased crime rate around the nightclubs and shopping districts, which are increasingly often in white and black patrons. With a view towards improving the situation, beginning in 2004, residents of the area to take immediate steps to reduce the nightlife, the village, thus reestablishing more residential character of the neighborhood. The Buckhead Coalition was the Atlanta City Council to pass the Ordinance to close at 2:30 instead of 4 bars and liquor licenses were made more difficult to obtain. These two factors left the village with a third of their vacant storefronts late 2005. Many projects proposed or under construction has been initiated to replace these vacant properties, most of them are aimed at upscale customers.

The village of Buckhead Atlanta has no link with the City of Buckhead, Georgia, about 50 miles or 80km to the east-southeast.
